A Trip to Jeonju from Busan: Experiencing Hanbok with My Boyfriend, Visiting Jeo

by LifeInBalance 2024. 7. 29.

We initially had some business in Busan, and afterward, we decided to make a trip to Jeonju. We took a bus from Sasang Bus Terminal and arrived in Jeonju in the evening. The journey took around 3 hours. We booked accommodation near Jeonju Hanok Village to make the most of our short visit.

We had only one day to explore Jeonju, so we started early the next morning. The weather was scorching hot, so our first stop was to grab some ice cream from a street vendor to cool off as we wandered around. The streets were bustling with various mini-games, and we couldn't resist trying out the dart game where we popped balloons to win a stuffed toy. It was fascinating to see both foreign tourists and locals enjoying games like archery, darts, and claw machines.

Walking further, we saw many people dressed in traditional Korean attire, Hanbok, and thought it would be fun to try it out, especially since my British boyfriend had never worn it, and I hadn't worn one since I was very young. There were numerous shops offering Hanbok rentals, and we picked one that seemed friendly. The prices were quite reasonable, with a full set for women, including hairstyling, and just the outfit for men. We opted for an indoor photo session to avoid the heat, which took about 1-2 hours. The whole process was swift and enjoyable, costing us only 25,000 KRW. We even got a free photo and added three more for 4,000 KRW each. It was a delightful experience, and I highly recommend it for couples.

Next, we headed to the famous Jeondong Cathedral. Although we saw its beautiful night view the previous evening, we couldn't enter, so we visited again during the day. The cathedral was stunning, and many people were taking pictures. Close by, we enjoyed a traditional Korean meal of Bibimbap, a mixed rice dish with various vegetables and a spicy sauce. We also tried Tteokgalbi, grilled short rib patties, which was a nice change from our usual diet of burgers and fast food. The meal was comforting and delicious, making us feel at ease.

Jeonju Hanok Village is beautifully maintained and is a well-known tourist spot. It offers a variety of cuisines, including Korean, Western, Chinese, and Japanese, so there's something for everyone, even those who might not be keen on Korean food. The streets are lined with interesting sights and photo opportunities, making it a fantastic place to visit. If you’re visiting Busan and heading to Seoul afterward, a stop at Jeonju Hanok Village is highly recommended. The experience was delightful and created lasting memories for us.

And who knows this? We were shocked to see the bar entrance made of TARDIS. This seems to be an American-style pizza place, but the owner seems to be a Doctor Who fan. HAHAHA We really love it.
